Allergy is the 5th leading chronic disease in the U.S. among all ages*.
Allergies can cause nasal congestion, nasal drainage, headaches, itchy eyes and nose, sneezing, scratchy throat, and decreased sense of smell. If these symptoms last longer than 2 weeks, you should see a doctor for further evaluation.
We offer the following diagnostic testing and treatment for allergies/allergic rhinitis:
Allergy testing via RAST (RadioAllergoSorbent Test).
Medical treatment which can include nasal steroids, antihistamines, nasal saline rinses, leukotriene modulators (Singulair), and immune modulators (oral and injected steroids)
Brookwood ENT offers allergy testing for the common allergens prevalent in this region using a blood test called the RAST test (RadioAllergoSorbent Test). Testing for allergies with a blood test allows us to avoid the significant discomfort and lengthy time required for skin testing, and allows the patient to stay on their allergy medications during testing.
Once a diagnosis of allergic rhinitis is made, there are many treatment options. These range from simple avoidance of the allergen, allergy medications to allergy immunotherapy. Our physicians can discuss these options with you, and decided what is the best managment plan for you.
