ENDOSCOPIC SINUS SURGERY
Postoperative Instructions
Call your doctor immediately if:
Excessive bleeding occurs (a small amount of bloody nasal discharge can be expected).
Foul smelling drainage, excessive swelling or increasing pain are present.
Temperature of greater than 101° or persistent low grade temperature greater than 100.5° for more than 24 hours.
A large amount of clear watery nasal drainage occurs.
Severe headache, neck stiffness or change in mental status occurs.
Swelling of eyes or change in vision occurs.
Activity:
No excessive exercise or heavy lifting for 1 week.
No bending at the waist for 48 hours.
Ask your doctor at the first postop visit when normal activities may be resumed.
No nose blowing (you may gently sniff in and out).
Sneeze or cough with your mouth open.
Sleep with head elevated.
Use bedside humidifier.
Take medications as prescribed.
