  • Eat Small meals, especially the evening meal.

  • No snacks or drinks after the evening meal or within 3 hours of bedtime.

  • Do not lie down within 3 hours after eating or drinking anything.

  • Avoid the following foods: Chocolate, fried foods, greasy foods, carbonated beverages, citrus juices, peppermint, coffee, caffeine-containing drinks, hot spices.

  • Take prescribed medications according to directions.

  • Avoid frequent stooping or bending over, or frequent heavy lifting or straining.

  • Use antacids (Mylanta, Maalox, Tums, etc.) as needed. Gaviscon after meals and/or at bedtime may be helpful.
